THE WOLVES

THE WOLVES by Sarah DeLappe follows nine high school girls on an indoor soccer team through six Saturday morning practices on an astroturf field that seems to go on forever. Across many iterations of their memorized group warm up, we gain a privileged look at the internal workings of this wolf pack: their friendships, grudges, ambitions, and fears.

Just as I did on FROM UP HERE, I partnered with Nicholas Escobar to create original music for THE WOLVES. Nicholas blended electronic music with unique sounds effects including actor voices and rhythms created using soccer balls. The resulting soundscape reflects both the fierce pressure and intense joys the play’s characters feel in the world contained in their tiny stretch of field.
